Mountain View’s Varsity park neighborhood is one of the best housing values on the peninsula.  Varsity Park, built between 1952 and 1957, consists of three subdivisions: Varsity Park, Varsity Park 2 and Varsity Park 3.  In total, 245 single family homes were built.  Homes originally were constructed as either 3 bedroom, 1 bath homes or 3 bedroom, 2 bath homes of approximately 1,200 sf.  The average lot size is approximately 6,000 sf.   Over the years as families grew and their needs grew, houses were expanded.  According to county records, the average Varsity Park home has grown to approximately 1473 sf.  The largest home, located at 1675 Fordam Way, tops out at slightly over 3,000 sf.  1015 Varsity Court boasts the largest lot at slightly more than 14,500 sf.  See map below for the streets that makeup the Varsity Park neighborhood.

The focal point for the neighborhood is the small park located at Duke Way and Jefferson Drive.  This park has a small grass play area and two age appropriate play structures.  After school and on weekends, one can also see the local neighborhood kids hanging out, playing basketball or eating food that they brought over from the Blossom Valley Shopping Center.   On warm evenings, local parents show up with their favorite adult beverage and get caught up with the neighborhood happenings.

Many people move to the Varsity Park neighborhood because it is located within the Los Altos Elementary School District boundaries.  K-6th grade children can walk to Springer Elementary Schoolin minutes.   Note: The safest route from the Varsity Park neighborhood to Springer Elementary is to cross Cuesta Drive (which is a fairly busy road) at the pedestrian stop light.  During school hours there is a crossing guard located at the back field entrance to the school at the pedestrian stop light.  Blach Junior High School is reached via a short bike ride and Mountain View High School is reached via a longer bike ride.

The Blossom Valley Shopping Center, with its large Safeway, Longs Drugs, Milan Pizza, post office and many other retailers is located a few blocks from the Varsity park neighborhood.  Downtown Los Altos, Downtown Mountain View and the Rancho Shopping Center are also within minutes of the Varsity Park neighborhood.

Because Varsity park is such a desirable neighborhood, a limited number of homes are available for sale each year.   In 2007, 12 homes were listed for sale … and they sold quickly!
