The PG&E trail is 4 miles each way (4.1 to be precise). That makes it 8 miles round trip. The net elevation gain (ignoring elevation drops) is 1,180 feet. The cumulative gain is probably ~1,700 feet.

Hiker,

Thanks for correcting me. I re-checked the distance with several running buddies and their conclusion is it is approximately 5 miles, in between what we both think. Maybe we’ll run into each other on the trail sometime and hike it together.

I’m rather shocked at this statement as the actual distance for this ‘loop’ is closer to double what was said here. It is a great hike nonetheless and the views from the top of the trail are terrific.
