The new houses look very nice but it seems to trade the living room space for bigger kitchen, master bathroom (e.g. plan 1 doesn’t has living room). Is this the trend? will it affect reslae value down the road? What do you think it’s a fair market price for these new homes?

Nice houses, but definitely over priced. I’d be surprised if they get anyone at these prices. These prices do NOT even include upgrades which are going to be at least in the $50-100k neighborhood. I’ve been looking and agree with this blog. You can buy a house in Los Altos, remodel, and still come in $300k cheaper.

If you really want a house to stand out, it has to be green. Something as simple as switching your air conditioning system to a geothermal system can make all the difference.
