The Blossom Valley Shopping Center, which is located at the corner of Miramonte Avenue and Cuesta Drive, plays a vital roll in our community. For those who live in the surrounding neighborhoods of Varsity Park, Springer Meadows, Blossom Valley Estates, Gest Ranch, Cuesta Park and parts of south Los Altos, the Blossom Valley Shopping Center provides needed goods and services as well as acting as a social meeting place for its neighbors. Because the shopping center is surrounded by residential neighborhoods, many people walk to do their shopping.
Safeway and Longs Pharmacy are the anchor stores. I frequently run into neighbors or Springer Elementary and/or Blach intermediate and/or Mountain View high school parents at Safeway. Saint Francis high students meet every morning before school to get their speciality coffee drinks from the in-store Starbucks. They also can be seen buying sandwiches, sushi or foods from the deli-counter.
Longs is the place to get your prescriptions filled or to purchase toiletries. It also tends to be an after school stop for students seeking candy, soda and other junk food. Longs also has a film processing counter.
Places to eat include:
- Subway Sandwiches
- China Cafe (good Chinese Chicken Salad)
- House of Bagels (excellent bagels)
- Starbucks
- Milan Pizza (separate room for meetings and sports team events)
- Fro-Yo (which is a frozen yogurt shop that doubles as a hangout for Blach intermediate school kids after school on Fridays).
Beauty Services:
- Great Clips
- Just Nails
- Vicki’s Hair Salon
- Beautopia Beauty Supply
Yoga and Martial Arts Studios:
- Dahn Yoga
- United Studios of Self Defense (martial arts)
For the Animal Lover:
- Miramonte Veterinary
- Country Pet Wash (wash your dog for $18.00)
Banking and Finance:
- Wells Fargo Bank
- H&R Block Tax Services
Other:
- Hallmark (can you say “webkinz?”)
- Mail-All Center
- U.S. Postal Office (much less crowded than downtown Los Altos Post Office)
- Abby’s Photo and Frame
- Dry Cleaners (rated one of the best)
- Shell Gas Station
- Wedgewood Preschool
There are also some small offices located on the second floor of one of the buildings.
