Beginning Friday June 20th, downtown Los Altos will be transformed into a large outdoor movie theater. The theater’s location is smack dab in the middle of Main Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets. The street closes at 6:00 pm. The movies begin at dusk (approximately 8:45 pm) and last approximately 2 hours.
My family has seen quite a few movies and the routine that works best for us is to arrive around 7:15 to reserve our seat location. This is done by placing lawn chairs and blankets on the street close to the screen. If we have made a picnic, we hang out and eat. If we haven’t, we go to one of the local restaurants and pick up food to go.
The evening can best be described as a small scale Stern Grove but instead of live, world renown entertainment, you’ll be watching kid friendly movies. The first movie in the series will be Sony Pictures’ Water Horse.

July 4th: No movie
July 11th: No movie
July 18th: The Last Mimzy
July 25th: Grease
August 1st: The Incredibles
August 8th: The Game Plan
August 15th: Emperor’s New Groove
August 22nd: Enchanted
August 29th: Ratatouille
The Los Altos Movie night is fun, but remember to dress for cool weather. Maybe we’ll see you there.
